Uncompromising Quality
Our Story
In September of 1975, 27-year-old Roy "Braxton" Culler, III, opened the doors of a new furniture manufacturing operation, Braxton Culler. Braxton Culler started as an upholstery source with about 15 employees, leasing 28,000 ft2 of manufacturing space off Fraley Road in High Point, North Carolina. With just one salesman on the payroll, Braxton Culler was ready for business.
Sales and demand increased, and just four years later, Braxton packed up operations and purchased a new, larger building in High Point, on West Green Drive. Over the course of a couple decades, this location slowly expanded from 85,000 to 150,000 ft2 of manufacturing space.
Showrooms evolved over the years as well, from showing directly on the factory floor for the first seven years in business, to showroom hopping in the IHFC building in High Point for the next few years, and finally to purchasing and renovating an auto parts distribution center in 1986 into the showroom as it stands today, at 310 S. Elm Street.
As Braxton Culler grew in size, it also added product categories. What was once a straight-forward upholstery manufacturer expanded into a major custom ordering program to include a large offering of upholstery, wicker/rattan, bedroom, dining room, occasional, and outdoor.
Braxton Culler moved to its current manufacturing location in Sophia, NC, in 2002, starting with 350,000 ft2 and eventually expanding to its current size of 415,000 ft2. Braxton attributes his success to growing up in the furniture industry, loving the products, and being fortunate enough to learn the furniture business from his father at a young age. The foundation of Braxton Culler has always been its customer relationships, and this holds true today.
Braxton was purchased in 2020 by Classic Home.
